Sekamuli Secondary Schools

Sekamuli Secondary School

The new two classroom block was recently opened at Sekamuli Secondary school. This block was supported and funded by the Cork Friends of Luweero who are part of the Healthy Vine. The building was substantially completed during their visit in June / July 2010 and has now been put into use after the opening on September 21st.

The school which was founded by one of the school Directors supported by the community has provided an essential educational service to the community which has no other secondary schools in the area. The recent completion of the science block has resulted in Uganda Government certification as an examination centre which mean that children no longer have to attend boarding school in order to take the equivalent of O level GCSE exams.

This new block is an important step towards the certification for A level exams which will enable students from Sekamuli to graduate directly to University.
The previous need to attend boarding school in order to take completion exams has meant that many student do not commence or continue with their secondary education because attendance at boarding school is unaffordable for them.
